MODIFICATION IDENTIFICATION PLATE MARKING

1 - REMINDER

Since 1975, the identification plate (1) includes :

For vehicles intended for the following countries :

Besides the manufacturer plate, there is a homologation plate (2), known as the additional plate, which contains the following details :

NOTE : if there is enough room on the identification plate (1), the national homologation number is engraved at (G) and in this case, there will be no additional plate .

For other countries, inclusion of the national homologation number is not compulsory .

2 - CHANGES TO THE IDENTIFICATION PLATE

The changes made to the identification plate are as follows :

The European acceptance number certifies that the vehicle is homologated by European acceptance authorities .

This number allows a manufacturer to have its vehicle approved by a member state of the European Union and have it registered without restriction in all the countries belonging to the European Union .

- All cars from 01/01/98 excluding vans, electric vehicles and LPG or NGV (Natural Gas Vehicles) .

NOTE : vans known as COMBI's will be subject to European acceptance .

National homologation number (Additional plate) .

In the context of european homologation, this number no longer exists. this national approval number (additional plate) remains for certain destinations not covered by european homologation .

NOTE : the European acceptance number is not shown if there is a national homologation number .

3 - VIN CHANGES

The VIN includes, among other information, the VDS (vehicle model code) .

For European legislation, the VDS or vehicle code becomes the TVV (Type Variant (M), Version (O)) .
