REASSEMBLY CYLINDER HEAD

1 - SPECIAL TOOLS

[1] Cylinder head bolt socket (-).0185 (FACOM STX 14) .

[2] Angular locking cotter (FACOM D.360) .

2 - CHECKING CYLINDER HEAD BOLTS BEFORE RE-USE

(X) must be less than 149,5 mm .

3 - REASSEMBLY

Clean the cylinder head bolt threads in the cylinder block using a tap .

Check that the pins (1) are present (Always replace split pins by non-split pins) .

Clean the holes (2) between the bores .

Position the new cylinder head gaskets .

WARNING : the holes (3) must be free of obstructions .

Refit the cylinder heads .

Brush the threads of the cylinder head bolts .

Fit the cylinder head bolts coated with MOLYKOTE G RAPID PLUS on the threads and under the bolt heads .

IMPERATIVE : tighten the cylinder head bolts in the order shown (using the tool [1]) .

This operation is performed in 2 stages .

Stage 1 :

• pre-tighten bolt(s) to 2 da.Nm.

Stage 2 :

• slacken completely, the bolt (No.1)
• retighten the bolt (No.1) : 1,5 da.Nm
• finally tighten by turning through 225 ° (using the tool [2])
• repeat the operation in the order indicated for the other 7 bolts

NOTE : the cylinder head covers have composite gaskets which can be used several times ; if the gasket is damaged, it can be partially repaired with (E10) jointing paste .

Refit the cylinder head covers .

4 - TIGHTENING THE CYLINDER HEAD COVERS

Tightening order (On the right-hand side) .

Tightening order (On the left-hand side) .

IMPERATIVE : finger tighten then progressively tighten the securing bolts in the order shown (1 to 10) .

Pre-tighten : 0,5 da.Nm .

Tightening torque: 1 da.Nm .

Check the tightening : 1 da.Nm .
