REMOVAL - REFITTING CAMSHAFT

1 - SPECIAL TOOLS


[1] lip seal fitting drift (-).0188-N .

[2] Flywheel setting rod (-).0188-Y .

[3] flywheel stop (-).0188-F .

[4] Camshaft setting rod (-).0188-M .

2 - REMOVAL

Remove :

Disconnect and move aside the union (3) .

Refit the engine upper mounting .

Run up the bolts .

Disconnect the crankcase breather hose .


Disconnect the connector (4) .

Remove :


Move aside : The brake servo vacuum pipe (8) .

Remove the exhauster (9) .


Gradually loosen the securing bolts in sequence .

Remove :

Clean the joint faces with an approved descaling product; Do not use sharp or abrasive tools .

3 - REFITTING

Remove the rod [2] from the flywheel .

Fit the stop [3] .

Fit : The crankshaft pulley bolt .

Remove the stop [3] .

Turn the crankshaft a quarter turn in the opposite direction to running (Pistons at mid-stroke) .


Deposit a line of sealing compound SILICONE CATEGORIE 2 (AUTOJOINT OR) at (A) around the edge of the mating surfaces .


IMPERATIVE : position the camshaft (11) in the main bearing caps casting (10) .

Fit the assembly (10), (11) .


Finger tighten then progressively tighten the securing bolts in the order shown .

Tighten the bolts to 1 daN.m .

Before fitting the camshaft seal, ensure that the bottom of the seat is free of sealing compound .

Apply grease to the space between the oil seal lips .

IMPERATIVE : the outer face of the lip seal must be free of all traces of oil .


Fit a new lip seal using tool [1] .


Fit :

Set the camshaft hub (12) (Using the tool [4]) .

Tighten the bolt (13) to 4.3 da.Nm .


IMPERATIVE : oil the O-rings before refitting .

Fit :

Tighten the bolts to 2 daN.m; The nut to 2 da.Nm .

Fit the cylinder head cover using a new gasket .

Run up the bolts .


Gradually tighten the cylinder head cover bolts in a spiral starting from the inside .

Tightening torque: 1 da.Nm .

Turn the crankshaft, a 1/4 turn in the direction of rotation .

Peg the flywheel using the rod [2] .

Fit the camshaft gear .

Adjust : the sensor air gap (16) .

Remove the upper engine mounting .

Refit the timing belt .

Continue the fitting operations in the reverse order to removal .
