REMOVAL - REFITTING CAMSHAFT

1 - SPECIAL TOOLS


[1] camshaft hub setting rods (Exhaust) (-).0189-AZ .

[2] camshaft hub setting rods (Inlet) (-).0189-L .

[3] Fitting drift for camshaft seal (-).0189-D1/D2 .

[4] Power train support crossmember (-).0009 .

ALL MODELS

2 - REMOVAL

remove the timing belt .

Remove the style cover .


Disconnect :

Remove :


Remove :

Position the open-ended spanner on the flat (7) of the camshaft .

Slacken the bolt (8) .

Remove :

EW12J4 ENGINE


Fit :

Remove the power train retaining crossmember [4] .

ALL MODELS

Slacken the camshaft bearing cap cover securing bolts, progressively and in a spiral sequence starting from the outside, so as to separate the mating surfaces by a few millimetres .

Remove the camshaft bearing housings .

Remove the camshafts :


If the tappets are removed :

Remove oil from the threads receiving the camshaft bearing housing securing bolts .

3 - REFITTING

Refitting the tappets :

Oil the camshaft bearings .

EW12J4 ENGINE


Check that the pins (14) are present .

ALL MODELS

Position the camshaft fitted with the sensor ring (2) on the exhaust side .

Position the second camshaft .

Apply a bead of SILICONE CATEGORIE 2 jointing paste at (A) round the perimeter of the joint faces and the tappings for the securing bolts .


Replace the bearing housing with the sensor hole (2) on the exhaust side .

Refit the second bearing housing .

Finger tighten then progressively tighten the securing bolts in the order shown .

Tightening torque of bolts : 0.9 da.Nm .

Replace the timing gear cover .

Before fitting the camshaft seal, ensure that the bottom of the seat is free of sealing compound .

Fit new seals using the tool [3] .

EW12J4 ENGINE

Refit the power train retaining crossmember [4] .


Remove :


ALL MODELS

Fit :

Tighten the camshaft hub securing bolts (8) to 7.5 dan.m by immobilising the camshaft using an open-ended spanner .

refit the vtc (6) .


Refit the cylinder head covers fitted with new gaskets in the order indicated .

Stage 1 :

Stage 2 :

Continue the fitting operations in the reverse order to removal .

Initialise the various ECUs .
