CHECK - ADJUSTMENT INPUT SHAFT BEARINGS

1 - PRELIMINARY OPERATIONS

Removal :

• the 5 th speed gear
• the gearbox casing
• input and output shafts

2 - DISMANTLING

Remove the input shaft bearing outer race (1), on the 5th gear side, using the tool [15] and a press .

Remove the input shaft bearing outer race (2) at the 1st speed end using tool [20] (If necessary) .

3 - ASSEMBLY

Fit the input shaft bearing outer race (2) at the 1st speed end .

Fit, under the differential bearing race, an adjusting shim which must be 0,40 mm thinner than that originally fitted .

Refit the input shaft bearing outer race (2) using the tool [5] and a press .

4 - INPUT SHAFT BEARING ADJUSTMENT

WARNING : check that the input shaft bearing adjustment shim is present under the bearing race (5th speed end) .

Fit the assembled input shaft .

Fit :

• the gearbox casing (4)
• the bolts (5) (every second bolt)

Fit : The dial gauge [26] - The tools [17],[18],[19] .

Rotate the shaft several turns .

Set the dial gauge to zero .

Push the shaft axially, upwards, .

Read the value :

• the end float should be between 0,06 and 0,15 mm
• if the dial gauge reading is not correct, re-adjust
