REMOVAL/REFITTING OF THE CONVERTER

1 - REMOVAL

REMOVE THE GEARBOX .

PUT THE TOOLS IN PLACE [2] .

Pull and remove the converter (1) .

WARNING : the converter contains a large quantity of fluid .

Extract the seal (2), USING THE TOOL [4] .

2 - REFITTING

IMPERATIVE : fit a new oil seal .

Clean the housing of the lip seal .

REFIT THE NEW LIP SEAL (2) USING THE TOOL [3] .

Visually check :

• the converter centralising device (crankshaft and converter side)
• the seating of the seal on the converter
• the 3 securing points
• the drive flats of the oil pump
• the grooves of the turbine shaft and converter

NOTE : do not fill with fluid other than the recommended fluid ; before refitting a new torque converter, partially fill it with oil ; oil the interior seating of the converter seal ; gradually engage the converter (1) using tools [2] by using a slight alternating rotational movement to assist engagement in the grooves .

CHECK THE POSITIONING OF THE CONVERTER USING THE CONVERTER RETAINING PIN [18] .

REFIT THE GEARBOX .

TOP UP THE OIL IN THE GEARBOX .

Initialise the oil wear counter (Follow the diagnostic equipment procedure) .
