REMOVAL - REFITTING REAR SUSPENSION

1 - SPECIAL TOOLS

[1] Positioning calipers (-).0536 E - F - G .

[2] Rear suspension units compression tool (-).0536 D .

2 - REMOVAL

Removal of the rear axle is to be carried out preferably on a two post lift .

Before carrying out this operation, the vehicle must be secured to the lift using body sill clamps .

Take the following precautions when fitting the compressing tools :

Compress the suspension springs using the knob of the tool (2) until dimension X = 225 mm is reached .

Remove :

Uncouple the two sets of brake hoses (4) which go towards the rear wheel slave cylinders .

Plug the brake hoses .

Remove the bolts (5) securing the compensator .

Remove the nuts (8) securing the anti-roll bar to the link rod .

Uncouple the primary cable (9) from the right-hand secondary cable (10) at (a) and the left-hand secondary cable (11) at (b) .

Release the primary cable (9) forwards .

Remove the rear shock absorber upper securing nuts .

Remove bolts (12) and (13) securing each longitudinal arm bracket .

Support the rear suspension using a jack .

Remove the 4 bolts (14) which secure the crossmember to the body shell (two on either side) .

Lower the rear axle, taking care :

3 - REFITTING

Position the 2 calipers [1] at the front of the rear crossmember to align the rear crossmember .

Proceed in the reverse order to removal .

Abide by the following conditions :

Before tightening the rear suspension fasteners, adjust tool [2] to dimension X = 225 mm .

TIGHTEN THE REAR SUSPENSION .

Tighten the brake pipe nut : 1,5 da.Nm .

Slacken the nuts on the compression tools ensuring that the springs are on the supports .

BLEED THE BRAKES .
