REMOVAL - REFITTING STEERING RACK DAMPER (PLASTIC DAMPER BOLT)

1 - SPECIAL TOOLS

[1] :18 mm/flat hexagonal recess (-).0720-G .

[2] : Set of FACOM 470 type circlip pliers .

2 - REMOVAL

Position the front wheels straight ahead .

NOTE : if the operation is carried out on a workbench (if replacing a valve), position the rack at the mid-point .

Using the tool [1] : Remove the bolt (1) .

Remove :

• the washer (2)
• the rubber spring (3)

Using the tool [2], Remove the damper (4) .

Protect the hole (A) from the swarf using a lint-free cloth .

IMPERATIVE : mark the tapping of the housing using a M10 X 150 tap .

3 - REFITTING

NOTE : always replace all the parts of the damper function .

Grease the thrust button (TOTAL N3924/N3945 grease) .

Fit :

• the rack thrust button (4)
• the rubber spring (3)

Refit the washer (2) behind the damper bolt (1) .

Fit the assembly (1) + (2) .

IMPERATIVE : ADJUST THE RACK DAMPER .
