REMOVAL - REFITTING DRIVER'S AIRBAG SYSTEM
1 - REMOVAL
IMPERATIVE : APPLY THE DEACTIVATION PROCEDURE .
Move the steering wheel to the vertical position for access to the securing bolts (1) and (2) .
Slacken the bolts (1) - (2) .
Pull the airbag gently towards you .
Disconnect the connector (3) - (4) .
Remove the steering wheel module .
Remove the steering wheel airbag, bag to the top, supporting the connector for safety requirements .
Lock the steering lock .
Slacken the bolt (5) by a few threads .
Release the steering wheel from its splines by tapping the rim with your hands .
Remove :
WARNING : take care not to crush the connectors where they pass through the steering wheel .
Remove :
Using a blade, unclip the connector (9) from the bracket .
Disconnect :
Remove :
2 - REFITTING
FOR ANY ACTION ON THE SYSTEM, SEE THE SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS SECTION FOR THE PRECAUTIONS TO BE TAKEN .
Proceed in the reverse order to removal .
Tighten the fastener (5) to 3,5 daN.m. .
Tighten the bolts (1) and (2) to 1 daN.m. .
WARNING : before fitting the steering column cowls and the module, check that the harness is correctly positioned by manoeuvring the steering wheel .
IMPERATIVE : APPLY THE ACTIVATION PROCEDURE .
2 - 1 - ADJUSTING THE SWITCH IN THE FREE STATE
Check that the wheels are straight ahead .
Turn the plate so that the location triangles (A) or marks (B) are in alignment (according to the type of connector) .
WARNING : perform this operation which ensures the central position of the connector before refitting the steering wheel .
IMPERATIVE : before fitting the air bag module, check that the locking of the connector to the trigger is correct .
Check the operation of the airbag warning light .
