ANALYSIS OF THE RESULTS

WARNING : faults are detected by the control unit; the autodiagnosis indicates that a function is faulty : the fault can be in the unit concerned, its connections or in the control unit itself .

1 - PRESENCE OF FAULTS

1 - 1 - PROCESSING FAULTS

SIDE AIRBAG

A) Permanent faults detected : Refer to the corresponding table of checks (see the contents) .

B) Intermittent faults detected, check :

• the condition of the connectors
• the condition of the various contacts (distortion, corrosion etc.)
• the presence of the seal
• the presence and condition of the connector locking mechanism
• the condition and tightness of the earths
• the control unit supply
• using the tools (-).1325 / (-).1345-A / (-).1345-E : (to replace the pre-tensioning components) the electrical harness and the connectors observing the procedure for switching on and off the side airbags system

IMPERATIVE : if there is an intermittent energy reserve ECU fault, replace the side airbag ECU (depending on the side selected using the diagnostic equipment) .

DRIVER'S AIR BAG PASSENGER AIR BAG

A) Permanent faults detected : Refer to the corresponding table of checks (see the contents) .

B) Intermittent faults detected, check :

• the condition of the connectors
• the condition of the various contacts (distortion, corrosion etc.)
• the presence of the seal
• the presence and condition of the connector locking mechanism
• the condition and tightness of the earths
• using the tools (-).1325 / (-).1345-E / (-).1340 / (-).1345-B : (to replace the pre-tensioning components) the electrical harness and the connectors, observing the switching on and switching off of the centralised system for air bags and seat belts

Function : Driver's module trigger .

Function : Passenger's module trigger .

Function : Seat belt trigger 2 .

Function : Warning lamp .

Function : Supply voltage .

Function : Configuration error .

Function : Passenger airbag neutralisation switch warning light .

Function : Passenger air bag neutralisation switch .

Function : Airbags and seat belts control unit .

NOTE : the following functions are not associated with a fault : disarming of the passenger airbag / seat belts triggered / seat belts and airbags triggered .

1 - 3 - LACK OF COMMUNICATION

Check :

• autodiagnostic line
• ignition controlled +ve supply to control unit
• operation of the diagnostic equipment

If the checks are correct : Replace the control unit .
